Long Island City Day Trip

Discover jewel-box museums and cutting-edge creative studios in Long Island City,  the former industrial hub transformed into a thriving and diverse cultural hotspot. Enjoy insiders' access to the American Folk Art Museum Collections and Education Center, Jean-Luc Moulène: More or Less Bone at the Sculpture Center, the Noguchi Museum, and Snarkitecture's design studio. MAD will provide transportation and a prix fixe lunch at the charming Tournesol bistro. Full itinerary below.

9:00 am: Meet at the Museum at 2 Columbus Circle.

9:15 am: Travel via private motor coach to the American Folk Art Museum Collections and Education Center.

  • Tour of the Collections and Education Center of the American Folk Art Museum with an introduction from Director of Education Rachel Rosen and Assistant Curator Steffi Duarte.  
  • Tour of Jean-Luc Moulène: More or Less Bone and two more exhibitions at the Sculpture Center with curator Sohrab Mohebbi.  
  • Prix-fixe lunch at Tournesol French bistro. 
  • Guided tour of exhibitions Gabriel Orozco: Rotating Objects and Changing and Unchanging Things: Noguchi and Hasegawa in Postwar Japan at the Noguchi Museum.  
  • Behind-the-scenes tour of Snarkitecture design studio, creators of Snark Park at Hudson Yards. 

6:00 pm: Projected arrival back at 2 Columbus Circle.
