Your Local Color: Workshops in Glass Beaded Jewelry

Jewelry made from beads is believed to be the earliest known example of personal adornment. For instance, a pair of beads created from seashells was found in Israel that is approximately 100,000 years old.  Throughout the centuries, beaded jewelry has transformed and flourished.  Not only have new materials and techniques been developed to create beaded jewelry, but its appearance and form have changed according to the locations and cultures of its creators.

Exploring how one’s environment, whether city, neighborhood, or community of friends, affects the work created, the workshop series Your Local Color: Workshops in Glass Beaded Jewelry gives novices and experts alike the chance to create wearable wonders that reflect the colorful and vibrant personalities of their makers and the places they call home.

No previous experience required. All materials provided.
