Making with MAD Summer Camp

Enriching creative immersions for ages eight through thirteen.

Making with MAD summer camp offers online immersions in art and design for young curious creatives who want to expand their skill sets, meet new friends, and discover new creative outlets. MAD’s experienced artist-educators lead hands-on making activities and each week, an artist-in-residence from the Museum’s Artist Studios program welcomes participants for a virtual studio visit and lively talk about life as a working artist.


  • $250 per session
  • $200 for MAD Members and Patrons
  • A limited number of need-based financial scholarships are available. Please submit an application form.


Art and Storytelling

July 12–16 (10 AM–12 PM)
Ages: 8–10

Stories are all around us! Learn how artists use the power of storytelling to express themselves, inspire activism, and create moments of joy. Tell your own story through comic books, colorful posters, and more!

Craft Conversations

July 19–23 (10 AM-12 PM)
Ages: 8–10

Calling all creative makers! Explore the craft traditions at the heart of MAD’s mission and learn how contemporary artists and designers keep these practices alive today. Campers will learn a different craft technique each day and try their hand at papermaking, ceramics, weaving, felting, and furniture design.

Art and Activism

July 19–23 (1–3 PM)
Ages: 11–13

Can creativity change the world? Learn about artists who use their work to draw attention to issues from social justice to environmental sustainability. Get inspired by designers who innovate solutions for a better world. Reflect on causes that you care about and channel your creativity into action!

Each program has been designed to make the most of materials from home or else available through large retailers online. A materials list will be emailed three weeks before the start of camp.


100% refund for cancellation received a minimum of 14 days before the start date of the camp.

50% refund for cancellation between 7–14 days before the start date of the camp.

No refund for cancellations less than 7 days before the start date of the camp.

Change in start date will be honored without penalty if space(s) is available, otherwise the cancellation policy applies.


All programs will use Zoom. Campers’ parent/legal guardian will receive login instructions for each session. Artist educators and tech assistants will always be present when the program is in session.
