MAD is open Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King Jr Day.
  • The Museum offers people with disabilities free admission and a $15 discount on Individual and Dual/Family memberships. For more information, please call the membership office at 212.299.7732.
  • All galleries and public spaces are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at the Admissions Desk.
  • Accessible bathrooms are located on the theater level and the 6th floor.
  • The Theater at MAD is equipped with infrared assistive listening technology.  You may pick up a headset before any program at the Admissions Desk.
  • Interpretive videos in our galleries are captioned.
  • Large print labels for current exhibitions are available at the front desk.
  • Service dogs on a leash and under their owner's control are welcome.
  • MAD offers American sign language gallery tours and verbal description and sensory tours of current exhibitions. These programs are free and include Museum admission. Preregistration is required. 
  • Lightweight, portable stools are available at the Admissions Desk.

 

American Sign Language Gallery Tours

Join a MAD docent and an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for a focused and intimate gallery tour of our current exhibitions. Visitors will gain an understanding of the materials, processes, and concepts that drive innovation in the fields of art, craft, and design. The docent will also open the floor for discussion about the works on view.

The tour is free and includes admission to the Museum. Preregistration is required. Due to limited capacity, we are unable to accommodate ASL students wishing to attend.

Verbal Description and Sensory Tours

Join an artist-educator for a tour of our current exhibitions specifically designed for visitors who are blind or have low vision. Through verbal description, conversation, and sensory experiences, visitors will gain an understanding of the materials, processes, and concepts that drive innovation in the fields of art, craft, and design.
