On Collecting: Special Tour of Objects from MAD’s Permanent Collection

Thu, Jun 12, 2014

In the last fifteen years, the Museum of Arts and Design has expanded its permanent collection from 800 objects to more than 3000. This tour will focus on recent acquisitions, from significant works of the American Studio Craft Movement to contemporary pieces that explore the ways makers push the boundaries of materials and processes. Join Curator Ron Labaco as he reflects on our ideas of artistic value and importance, but also considers how the human instinct to collect affects the way we consider artistic merit and cultural significance.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
