Audio tours by teens:
Artslife interns work with staff from the education and curatorial departments to learn the skills necessary to develop audio interpretation for the Permanent Collection galleries. Interns learn about the Permanent Collection, research the object files, interview artists, develop analytical writing and speaking skills; finally interns learn about editing computer software and production.
MAD offers high school students the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a museum setting. Interns are exposed to the variety of careers available in the arts by working with staff in each department (Education, Curatorial, Registration, Marketing, Fundraising, Membership, Retail, Visitors’ Services, Facilities Management, Finance, and Public Relations). They enjoy first-hand experience and the broadest possible exposure to ongoing public and behind-the-scenes museum activities. The chance to meet key arts professionals helps to expand their understanding of and provide exposure to valuable future career opportunities.
