Wyna Liu is a mixed media sculptor and fabricator based in NYC. Her work explores the intersection of geometric shapes and structures found in nature through the repetition of simple units. She is fascinated by biological systems and processes, where form is dictated by the characteristics of smaller component cells, and the generation of organic complexity through iteration. For the MAD Artist Studios, Wyna is excited to continue using laser cutting and traditional craft techniques to create fluid and movable sculptures.
Wyna received a Masters from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2014. Her sculptures combine digital fabrication with fussy hand finishing processes. She is interested in modularity, mechanisms, and the lathe. You can find her work at wynaliu.com.
