Studio Sundays, held once monthly offers countless opportunities to learn and explore. These intergenerational workshops are included with museum admission for families to work with artist-educators who provide insight into creative processes, inspired by MAD’s exhibitions. Each Studio Sunday workshop is unique, and open to anyone age 6 and up.

Join museum educators Natalia Nakazawa and Stephanie Beck on a grand weaving adventure! Work with paper, yarn, and hand-held looms to learn the basics of weaving or stick around for an expert-level workshop on weaving baskets with natural reeds. Be sure to take a tour of the current exhibition, "New Territories: Laboratories for Design, Craft and Art in Latin America", where you can see woven carrizo lamps created by Oax-i-fornia - a collaborative design group comprised of traditional artisans from Oaxaca, Mexico and students from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. This workshop is open to all skill levels.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
