Members’ Trip: New Haven, CT

Join the Museum of Arts and Design for a trip to New Haven, CT to explore the arts and architectural heritage of Yale University with MAD’s Director, Glenn Adamson. Highlights of the trip include guided visits at the Yale University Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art.

9:00am: Departure from MAD:
Guests will travel via private chartered bus to Yale University Art Gallery

Yale University Art Gallery   
The group will be greeted by Jock Reynolds, the Henry J. Heinz II Director, followed by a curator-led tour of the current exhibitions. The Yale University Art Gallery is the oldest and one of the most prestigious university art museums in America. The encyclopedic collections feature more than 200,000 objects from around the world ranging in date from ancient times to the present day. Notable holdings in modern and contemporary art include Vincent van Gogh’s The Night Café, one of the artist’s most celebrated paintings, along with masterworks by Constantin Brancusi, Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter, and Andy Warhol, among others.

Lunch at ZINC Restaurant
We will walk over to the nearby ZINC Restaurant for a 2-course lunch.

Yale Center for British Art   
The group will be guided through the galleries with Associate Director of Research and Curator of Sculpture, Martina Droth. The Yale Center for British Art houses the largest collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. The collection of paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, rare books, and manuscripts reflects the development of British art and life from the Elizabethan period onward. The Center is the last building designed by the internationally acclaimed American architect Louis I. Kahn

TRIP NOTES
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: Participants may cancel their trip up until Tuesday, June 10, 2014. After that date, the full cost of the trip is non-refundable. The Museum of Arts and Design reserves the right to cancel the trip if there are fewer than 15 participants or for unforeseeable circumstances. Upon reservation, participants assume responsibility for their physical abilities to travel and must notify the Museum of any health or physical conditions and/or allergies (including dietary restrictions) that may hinder their ability to fully participate in this trip.

RESERVATION AND ITINERARY POLICY: This trip may be limited to 25 participants and reservations will be taken in order of receipt on a first-come, first-served basis. The itinerary provided is provisional. If any changes are made, be assured that the quality of the program will be maintained. The trip includes transportation via private coach; pick-up and drop off at the Museum of Arts and Design; curatorial comment; lunch (alcohol is not included with any meals); gratuities; admission fees, administration costs; and tour preparation. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

*Please note that we cannot guarantee an exact return time to the Museum of Arts and Design due to traffic and unforeseen road conditions. All participants will return to the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City. The coach cannot make stops before returning to the Museum.

Please review our health and safety protocols before you arrive. MAD strongly recommends all visitors six months and older are vaccinated against Covid-19 and visitors ages two and up wear face coverings, even if vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation.
