Yes, the Museum of Arts and Design is wheelchair accessible to all galleries and restrooms. Wheelchairs are available free of charge but must be reserved 24 hours in advance by contacting the Visitor Services Center at 212.299.7717 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Photography is encouraged throughout the museum, with a few exceptions. Sometimes an artist chooses not to allow images of their work to be distributed outside of the museum. In those cases, we respect the artist's request, and we ask that you do as well. If you have any questions about which pieces are permissible to photography, you can always ask a museum guard.
Sketching is permitted only in pencil and only on paper that is 11" x 14" or smaller. No easels are permitted.
Only umbrella-style strollers can be accommodated on the gallery floors. Luggage is not permitted on the gallery floors and cannot be held. Backpacks, umbrellas, large bags and large strollers must be checked in at the coat check on the Theater (T) level. All bags are subject to inspection.
Sign language interpreters are available for tours and many public programs with advance notification. For further information contact the Education Department at 212.299.7726.
